■Evaluation of Legal Engine
– Results of quality verification using BLEU score
The BLEU score indicates how close the MT translation output is to the sample translation. The higher the score, the closer it is to human translation.
The BLEU score for the Legal Engine is in the upper 40s for both Japanese to English and English to Japanese, and is higher than that for the General-purpose Engine.
Google has published its interpretation that a BLEU score of 40 to 50 means a “high-quality translation”.

In the evaluation provided by translators, Legal Engine has a high reputation for producing the same quality as human translators or even of higher quality than human translators.
